National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education bulk beta alanine information campaign created by the American Dietetic Association (ADA). The campaign was created to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. National Nutrition Month also promotes the ADA and its members to the public and the media as the most valuable and credible source of timely, science-based food and nutrition information. This year the slogan is "It's a Matter of Fact". Remember when you need a reliable source for facts on healthy eating, diets for weight loss or for medical nutritional therapy, or any food-related questions, consider a registered dietitian your best source. Find one at their website where they'll have dietitians listed in your area.
For this month, what can you do to start improving your nutrition? My challenge is for you to choose one habit you can change each week this month. One week you might see if you can include three fruits daily in your diet, or three vegetables. Another week you might try to limit sugary beverages to one a day. Not a breakfast eater? Try what you can to get something into your system before 10:00 am. Remember how important it is to balance a healthy diet with physical activity: keep your goals easy if you're starting out, like increasing your exercise by just 10 minutes for five days this week, or picking up a pedometer and shooting to increase your steps by 2000 a day. See how many ways you can come up with to improve your nutrition, one step at a time. Take the month of March and make four positive changes. It might be just what you need to get your eating, and your health, on the right track!
